"Happiness is a state of mind"-Maggie
About
“You are never fully dressed without a smile” – Annie
This one line of the song written for the legendary musical “Annie” embodies Maggie’s spirit. She lit up every room with her infectious smile and bright, beautiful personality.
Maggie believed that happiness is a state of mind. She lived her life with grace, determination, positivity and always a smile, even when faced with a cancer diagnosis in March 2024.
Maggie’s passing has left an immeasurable void in our lives. As her one-year anniversary draws closer, we have been putting our energy into sharing her kindness with the world.
This nonprofit foundation has been created to honor Maggie’s spirit while also being a vehicle toward supporting other young people who live their lives as she did, with joy, perseverance and a never give up attitude.
We hope this is just the beginning of many other opportunities to offer financial support to young people like Maggie for years to come.
It’s what Maggie would do.

Maggie Martin Foundation hosts charity fundraiser for theater lover’s birthday
November 4, 2025 by Chris Carrigan Brolly
The Maggie Martin Foundation is hosting a charity fundraiser on Sunday, Nov 16 from 5-8 p.m. in honor of Maggie Martin’s birthday. It will be at Bunratty Tavern, 620 Main St., Reading, which — according to foundation co-founder and Maggie’s father Peter Martin — was one of her favorite spots to go out with family.
The fundraiser will feature raffles for items including theater tickets, gift cards, and a virtual reality headset. There will also be a silent auction of packages including Bruins tickets as well as tickets to Huntington Theatre Company and to “The Sound of Music” in Boston. According to Peter there is also one additional mystery item — valued at around $2,000 — which will be announced ahead of the fundraiser.
In addition to donating time and space to hold the fundraiser, Bunratty’s will donate a portion of food and drink sales during the event to the foundation. All raffle and auction items were also graciously donated.
Maggie Martin was a young theater lover who worked at North Shore Music Theatre after earning a degree in Theatrical Arts at Gordon College. When she wasn’t working at NSMT, she was involved with the small performing arts group “Neverland: Next Chapter.”
She passed of advanced pancreatic cancer in May of 2024. According to her father, she loved get togethers and could never get enough of the stage.
After the fundraiser, the 6-month-old foundation hopes it will be able to complete its next major initiative: to co-sponsor a trip with Make-a-Wish Massachusetts and Rhode Island. The foundation hopes to help a struggling child visit Disney World in Maggie Martin’s honor. Peter Martin noted that his daughter was a “Disney Fanatic.”
They will also use any funds raised to continue their other works, such as supporting local independent theater groups and providing scholarships to matriculating theater kids. In the last six months, the foundation provided its first scholarships and was able to purchase wireless microphones for “Neverland: Next Chapter.”
Peter Martin said this fundraiser — and the foundation as a whole — is “one way to share Maggie’s ‘glass half full’ attitude.”
He said, “One of Maggie’s favorite things to do was to get together… It will be very positive, a celebration of Maggie. (Get togethers are) what she enjoyed, and we’re trying to be like her.”
maggie's mics
we are happy to announce that because of your generosity and belief in what we are doing, we have been able to purchase (2) wireless "actors mics" and have donated them to neverland next chapter
One of Maggie’s “pet peeves” was having to share a mic during performances and so we thought this would be a way to help a theatre group and also continue to build on Maggie’s Legacy.
Maggie joined Neverland for “Peter Pan” and LOVED the people and the atmosphere and continued with “Annie” and “Chicago”.
We contacted Andy and discussed our idea of purchasing mics. WE HAVE DONATED (2) MICS TO the Neverland Theatre group with a storage box labeled
“Maggie’s Mics”.
We shared some Maggie stories…laughed and remembered.
Now, “Maggie’s Mics” will allow her memory and legacy to continue with every performance at Neverland.
Love you Mags
2025 Maggie Martin
Memorial scholarship
On Thursday June 5th 2025, the Maggie Martin Foundation awarded a scholarship to a graduating senior from Lynnfield High School who is pursuing a career in Music and/or Theatre.
The 2025 recipient is Isabella Carroll.”I have found a caring community and I believe theater is a safe place for creative people to shine. Singing and performing is important to me because you are surrounded by people who accept you for who you are, who appreciate you and who enjoy working together. I am passionate about singing and performing and that has led me to pursue my BFA in Musical Theater at Syracuse University in the fall.”
LYNNFIELD — Maggie Martin was “pure sunshine” and, even when she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer, her optimism never wavered according to her father, Pete Martin.
Now, almost a year after her passing at the age of 25, Pete, along with Maggie’s mom, Kim and her brother Patrick have launched the Maggie Martin Foundation Inc.
The foundation will be awarding the first annual Maggie Martin Memorial scholarship of $1,500 to one Lynnfield High School senior who will be pursuing a postgraduate career in theater or music.
“The overall goal was to try and do something positive out of a tragedy. Maggie had a heart of gold, and it’s what she would do,” Pete Martin said. “She was always worried about everybody else and less about herself. She was just a good, good soul.”
Throughout her life, Maggie Martin faced obstacles like being diagnosed as being on the autism spectrum, but she never let that define her.
From an early age, performance was Maggie’s passion, joining the Lynnfield High School choir, acting in plays, and posting singing videos to her YouTube.
Then, at Gordon College, she continued her passion earning a degree in Theatrical Arts, and went on to work at North Shore Music Theatre and performed with Peabody’s Black Box Theater post-graduation.
She was very involved. She loved being on stage. You know, she said she was ‘getting in her zone’ on stage,” Pete Martin said. “Maggie was, for everyone who ever met her, a ray of sunshine. The glass was always half full with Maggie.”
Even with a cancer diagnosis of advanced pancreatic cancer, Maggie maintained her bright personality and never give up attitude. Now, her family is hoping with this foundation, they can continue to spread the joy she always embodied.
Especially important to the foundation is supporting the performing arts, a community that embraced Maggie.
In the future, the Martins want the annual scholarship, which will be presented on June 5 during senior award night, to be just one facet of the foundation.
“She loved working at North Shore Music Theater. She loved working with the crew as a stagehand and performing in several shows at the Peabody Black Box Theatre. So, maybe we could help them out in Maggie’s memory,” Pete Martin said. “And then she was an absolute Disney fanatic!
“Maybe someday if the Foundation is able, it would be great to help someone get to Disney, to enjoy the magic as much as Maggie did, maybe through Make-A-Wish or a similar organization.”
Seniors interested in applying for the scholarship should contact Susan Corcoran at the high school. The deadline for applications is Tuesday, April 29th.
